Python3.x Python Set issuperset() Method

Python3 Lists Python Sets

Description

The issuperset() method is used to check whether all elements of a specified set are contained in the original set. If they are, it returns True; otherwise, it returns False.

Syntax

Syntax for the issuperset() method:

set.issuperset(set)

Parameters

  • set -- Required. The set to check against.

Return Value

Returns a boolean value. Returns True if all elements are contained, otherwise returns False.

Example

Check if all elements of set y are contained in set x:

Example 1

x = {"f", "e", "d", "c", "b", "a"}
y = {"a", "b", "c"}
z = x.issuperset(y)
print(z)

Output result:

True

If not all are contained, it returns False:

Example 2

x = {"f", "e", "d", "c", "b"}
y = {"a", "b", "c"}
z = x.issuperset(y)
print(z)

Output result:

False
