404 NOT FOUND!
Sorry, we couldn't find the article you were looking for!!
The 404 page is an essential part of any website and plays a crucial role in user experience and SEO optimization. A 404 error occurs when users access pages that do not exist or have been deleted on the site. If webmasters donβt set up a custom 404 page, dead links may appear, which can negatively impact search engine indexing.
Origin of 404 Not Found
Legend has it that before the Third Industrial Revolution, the internet was essentially one large central database located inside Room 404. At that time, all requests had to be processed manually by staff. If the requested file wasn't found in the database due to incorrect numbering or other reasons, users would receive a message saying: "Room 404: File Not Found." After the rise of the modern internet, people became accustomed to using 404 as the standard HTTP status code indicating that a server could not locate a requested resource. Of course, there's no actual evidence confirming the existence of such a legendary Room 404.
Two Major Benefits of Setting Up a Custom 404 Page
- Guide users to stay on your site instead of leaving immediately, improving overall user experience.
- Prevent broken links from appearing across your website.
